Rangers of the North
Names: (S. “golden-brown river”; Os. “Baranduil”); Branda-nîn (Kud. “border water”; (Brandywine)
The Baranduin was the eastern border of the territory administered and protected by Lindon for most of the Second Age, and as a result has buried in its channel ward-stones as remnants of the old defenses. The reddish-brown river runs 440 miles through Bree-land and the Shire with its source at Evendim and its mouth in Belegaer by the Rast Vorn. Navigable to small craft for all of its length, the Baranduin is an important trade artery for Bree-land.
